The senatorial ambition of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, received a major boost on 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 4, as the ORLU4HOPE Movement officially flagged off its campaign and mobilisation activities in support of his bid to represent Orlu Zone in the Senate in the 2027 National Assembly election.
The massive flag-off ceremony, held at the Central School, Omuma, in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, attracted political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, All Progressives Congress (APC) members, supporters and stakeholders from across the 12 Local Government Areas and 136 wards that make up Orlu Zone.
Held under the theme, “Senator Hope Uzodimma in Our Best Interest: Orlu Zone Speaks With One Voice,” the event showcased what the organisers described as a strong display of grassroots mobilisation, political solidarity and unity across the senatorial zone.
The various LGA and ward structures of the ORLU4HOPE Movement were fully represented, with coordinators, executives, members and supporters turning out in large numbers for the campaign flag-off.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General and Zonal Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Gill Ogbonna, said the massive turnout demonstrated the level of political support and grassroots acceptance enjoyed by Governor Uzodimma across Orlu Zone.
Ogbonna said the movement was established to promote unity, development, good governance and effective political representation, while providing a platform through which the people of Orlu Zone could collectively support Uzodimma’s senatorial ambition.
He highlighted what he described as the governor’s “giant strides” in governance and development across Imo State, expressing confidence that Uzodimma would provide effective representation for Orlu Zone if elected to the Senate.
The ORLU4HOPE Director-General urged members and supporters to intensify their grassroots mobilisation efforts across the 12 LGAs and 136 wards, stressing that the movement had put in place structures capable of delivering the required support for the governor at the polls.
He described the flag-off as the beginning of a sustained mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
“This significant and landmark flag-off is only the beginning of our mobilisation effort for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s election as the senator representing Orlu Zone in 2027. We have formidable structures across the 12 LGAs and 136 wards to actualise this noble objective,” Ogbonna said.
He also commended the Founder and Sponsor of the ORLU4HOPE Movement, Mr. Chukwuneye Oktus Daniel, for his vision, determination and sacrifices in establishing and nurturing the organisation.
According to him, Daniel’s commitment has contributed significantly to building a strong grassroots support base for Uzodimma’s senatorial aspiration across Orlu Zone.
Also speaking, the State Secretary of the APC, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim; Orlu Zonal APC Chairman, Engr. Frank Onyejiaka; and Eze Joel Udenkwo, among other dignitaries, commended the movement for its mobilisation efforts.
They urged members and supporters to sustain the momentum and work collectively towards achieving the movement’s objective.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Chairman of the Oru East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Philip Uzodimma; APC candidate for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnanna Igbokw; Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Chief Ferdinand Uzodimma; local government chairmen from across Orlu Zone; APC candidates and other political stakeholders.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the empowerment of 200 students drawn from across Orlu Zone.Each beneficiary received a bag of rice, a bag of garri and a Senator Hope Uzodimma-branded school bag, in what the organisers described as part of their efforts to support students and put smiles on the faces of families across the zone.
The event also witnessed the formal inauguration of 54 distinguished patrons of the ORLU4HOPE Movement, who are expected to contribute their experience, influence and support towards strengthening the organisation’s activities across Orlu Zone.
Other officials of the movement who attended the ceremony included Hon. Ijeoma Onyebuagu, Zonal Woman Leader; Hon. Lolo Chinonye Nnawuihe, Zonal Head of Media and Public Relations; Hon. Odunze Ajaero, Zonal Youth Leader; and Hon. Lesley Egondu Mazi, Oguta Woman Leader, among others.
The ORLU4HOPE Movement said the successful flag-off had further demonstrated the organisational strength of its structures across Orlu Zone, pledging to sustain its grassroots engagement and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 National Assembly election.
The movement called on its members, supporters and stakeholders across the 12 LGAs and 136 wards to remain united, disciplined and committed to its political objective. It maintained that the message from the Omuma gathering was clear: Orlu Zone speaks with one voice in support of Senator Hope Uzodimma’s Senate ambition.
