RE: DISPUTED LEADERSHIP OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE OWERRI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (FPNOAA)

BEWARE OF MISREPRESENTATION OF ALUMNI LEADERSHIP

The attention of the Joint State Branch Leadership of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri Alumni Association (FPNOAA) has been drawn to a publication concerning a purported courtesy visit by certain individuals claiming to represent the Association’s leadership to the Chairman of the 15th Governing Council, Dr. Bala Rabi Mudi, on 16th October 2026.

We wish to inform the Governing Council, Polytechnic Management, Alumni members and the general public as follows:

1. DISPUTED LEADERSHIP: The individuals involved in the said visit are not recognised by the Joint State Branch Leadership as the legitimate representatives of the Association. Their claims to leadership remain disputed.

2. PRIOR FORMAL NOTIFICATION: The Joint State Branch Leadership had formally submitted an URGENT APPEAL FOR INTERVENTION, dated 15th October 2026, to the Chairman of the Governing Council, duly acknowledged by the Office of the Rector a day before the purported visit.

3. CAUTION AGAINST MISREPRESENTATION: The leadership and Governing Council representation of the FPNOAA remain contested. The reported courtesy visit must not be misconstrued as conferring legitimacy or constituting recognition by the wider Alumni community.

4. CALL FOR DUE PROCESS: We urge the Governing Council and Polytechnic Management to exercise caution, refrain from endorsing disputed leadership claims, and facilitate a transparent, constitutional and inclusive resolution of the crisis.

The FPNOAA belongs to all its members, not to any individual or faction. Legitimate leadership must emerge through due process, accountability and the collective will of members, not through disputed claims or ceremonial engagements.

We remain committed to the unity, integrity and progress of our Alumni Association and our Alma Mater.

SIGNED:

JOINT STATE BRANCH LEADERSHIP

Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri Alumni Association (FPNOAA)

On behalf of concerned State Branches across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
