The announcement of the appointment of Professor Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, as the 9th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), on Thursday April 23 2026, has continued to reticulate an atmospheric joy and gratitude among University stakeholders in the State and beyond, conferring jubilancy on the staff and students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) community.
According to an official Press Release by the Federal University Of Technology, Owerri, signed by the University Public Relations Officer, Joy N. Nnodi, the appointment followed a “rigorous recruitment process conducted by the University’s 13th Governing Council, chaired by Sen. Jack Tilley-Gyado, OFR, CON”.
The release also stated that “Professor Dozie formally received his letter of appointment from the Council Chairman, in the company of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti, whose tenure ends on June 18, 2026.”
The cheering news which has inundated the residing and messaging domain of Professor I. N. S. Dozie, with a deluge of accolades, commendations, homages, encomiums, panegyrics, and tributes, is considered by many as a clear fulfilment of God’s promise of His glorious crown upon those who raced to perfection. These crowns according to theological analysis represent both spiritual and physical rewards and recognition of faithfulness.
There is no doubt that Professor Dozie’s indomitable leadership legacies are formal statements testifying his competencies and esteemed proficiencies.

At K. O. Mbadiwe University, Prof. Dozie, founded and conducted a university leadership style that secured an undisruptible Academic Calendar that made for timely graduation of students and immediate mobilization of graduates for NYSC alongside collection of transcripts and degree certificates upon graduation.
His administration at KOMU, successfully secured full Accreditation Status for seventeen (17) mature programmes of the University from the National Universities Commission (NUC), introduced 10 new programmes including Law, Medicine & Surgery, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Architecture, cyber security among others, that opened the gateway for the unprecedented rise in students enrollment and by extension, the overall population of the University.

Behind this highly industrious Professor and academic leader, is his spouse, Dr Mrs Chinomnso P. Dozie, a brilliant and resourceful woman of no mean feat, who could be best referred to as the Vice Chancellor’s ‘Powerhouse’.
She stands in blockade of expected regular home distractions; leaving the dear husband, Prof Ikechukwu N. S Dozie, to concentrate on his highly challenging and tasking University responsibilities. She covers the University Gender concerns including the University Women Association and other responsibilities that may need her expertise.
At Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), She is the University Orator, Director, Gender and Development Studies and the President, KOMU Women Association (KOMUWA). She is exceptionally hardworking, diligent, persistent, and self-motivated to achieve goals. They are blessed with children.
