The Member representing Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated 12 March 2026 and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party in Oboama/Umunama Ward 12, Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State, the federal lawmaker announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the lawmaker, Nnamdi Ukasanaya , disclosed this in a release on Thursday.

” Rt. Hon. Chinedu expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity it provided him to serve the people of his constituency.
“I remain grateful to the party for the platform that enabled me to earn the confidence of the good people of Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency and serve them as a lawmaker,” he stated in the letter.
“However, he noted that recent developments within the party have created uncertainty regarding its immediate direction and internal cohesion.
“Recent developments within the party have created a climate of uncertainty regarding its immediate direction. I had hoped that dialogue and internal reconciliation would restore the stability and cohesion necessary for its continued progress.”
“According to him, despite exercising patience in anticipation of reconciliation among the various interests within the party, those expectations have not been realised.
“As you are aware, the party is presently characterised by several litigations among factions over issues of supremacy,” he added.
” Following wide consultations with his family, leaders of his ward, and his numerous supporters, Rt. Hon. Chinedu said he had taken the considered decision to formally withdraw his membership of the party.
“After careful reflection and consultation with my family, leaders of my ward, and my numerous supporters, I have therefore taken the considered decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party.”
He emphasised that the decision was taken with respect for the institution of the party and the relationships built during his years within it.
” Rt. Hon. Chinedu reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the welfare, progress, and political advancement of the people of Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency.
“Further consultations regarding his political future will be communicated in due course,” the release added.
