The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma CON, on Wednesday 26th November, 2025 commissioned an ICT/CBT Centre at the Claretian University of Nigeria, Nekede and Science Laboratory at Owerri Girls Secondary School Owerri, built and equipped by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi.
The facilities include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics laboratories, and a fully equipped ICT and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre.
The Governor who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, PhD praised the efforts of Senator Onyewuchi saying that the investments are “amazing gifts” and a “visionary investment” towards the future of the students. She further said that these projects align with Governor Hope Uzodinma’s digital revolution in education, science and technology.
Speaking at the event, the senator representing Imo East Senatorial District emphasized that education is key to development, stating that education opens the door to real development, which is the development of the mind.” He encouraged the students to utilize the facilities to become innovators and leaders in science and technology.
Both the Vice Chancellor of Claretian University and Principal of Owerri Girls Secondary School expressed their gratitude, highlighting that these facilities impact on the schools’ growth and transformation.
Senator Onyewuchi further assured of more dividends of democracy urging them to ensure that these investments are protected.
