The Imo State Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, has recorded huge success at the just concluded Zonal Security Summit carried out by their Commander General, Amb. Dr Woke Joshua Osatimehin, in the six geopolitical Zones in Nigeria.
That of the South East which took place at Enugu State Stadium, at Ogui road, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, had many Imo illustrious sons led by the NFSS State Commander, Dr Iwuoha Fabian Onyebuchi, to the event.
Imo State had the highest turnout for the ceremony, as even some stakeholders in Government and personalities who have been supporting the organization were given Awards of Merit at the function.
Some of them were – The Imo State ALGON Chairman, and Executive Chairman of Oru West, Engr. Ikenna Adikaibe, who received the National Patron Award, Executive Chairman of Nwangele, Chief Paul Duru – recipient of State Patron Award, Isiala Mbano Chairman, Chika Okoroike, Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise, Hon. Chinedu Nwachukwu, and Chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegbo, among others.
Speaking, the NFSS State Commander, Dr Iwuoha Fabian Onyebuchi who commended their Commander General for the event, which he said is a show of force to test their preparedness for the enormous task ahead, expressed joy over the massive turnout of Imo people in gracing the occasion.
He congratulated the awardees, saying that it is a well deserved honour, as they have shown great commitment in supporting the organization.
Iwuoha further lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma, asserting that he has been very supportive of the organization, and their core mandate.
Saying that their vision is to secure the forest, the NFSS State Commander, pointed out that they have being collaborating with all the security agencies in the state, and Nigeria; Army, DSS, the Police, Civil Defense, the NDLEA, among others, in achieving their aim.
He assured Imolites of the organization not letting their guards down in strategically positioning to actualizing such mandate of keeping their forests safe.
He in the same vein, beckoned on the state and Federal Government on supporting them more with funds, and other essential gadgets for their logistics, averring that they use their personal funds to run most of their activities.
“Basically we need motorcycles to aid us carry out our assignments better. We are awaiting funds from the Presidency so we can do our work better, for with support from both the state and federal Government, we will surely live up to expectation”.
