AS 2027 draws near for another round of elections in the country, a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress and Coordinator of the ADC – DN Scotland and Ireland, United Kingdom, Chief Fidelis Uchechukwu Abara has raised interest in Owerri zone parliamentary seat. He has therefore called on the citizens of the area to join the movement and register with ADC at the ongoing membership registration exercise taking place across the state. He assured that this will impact the party in taking over the state, and Owerri zone in particular where the need for better representation is highest. “It will brighten the future and meet our people’s aspirations for growth and opportunities that have for many years eluded the citizenry under the APC administration”, he said. Chief Abara who hails from Umuene Obiangwu in Ngor Okpala LGA maintained that Owerri zone has remained largely under represented in the legislature and needs at this time someone who will do something different; someone with commitment, vibrancy and skill to lead at such critical political height. He made this assertion during a telephone interview with our newspaper during the weekend, disclosing intention to offer himself for parliamentary elective office in Owerri zone, come 2027.
He said he’s not among the regular Nigerian politicians that benchmark representation on personal and inordinate wealth accumulation at the expense of their people, stating that he has lived, schooled and worked in Britain long enough to become conversant with what legislative job requires towards supporting and building the economy of the rural citizens.
Chief Abara drew parallel with those warming up for the same position, describing himself as having a singular purpose of standing in the gap for his people and ensuring they get the best benefit of his representation.
He called on the people of Owerri zone to embrace the movement and register enmass with ADC, as, according to him, that is the gateway to achieve change and get dividends of democracy.
A graduate of Construction Management from the Bath Spa University, UK, Chief Abara said he is coming into the arena with impeccable experience, networks, and vision to transform Owerri zone into a centre of opportunity, connectivity and human development.
The calm and soft spoken juggernaut anchored his parliamentary journey on integrity, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to people-centered development.
According to him, he stands for transparent representation, inclusive growth and a future where Owerri zone thrives as a model of progress and opportunity.
Aside his passion to push for improvement in road network connectivity across Owerri zone to enhance mobility, commerce and rural inclusion, Chief Abara insists, he will leverage his international business and logistic expertise to attract strategic investors to the zone as an international logistics hub, capitalising on the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport to stimulate trade, create jobs and drive regional economic growth.
He promised to champion the establishment of a modern skills acquisition centre in Owerri zone focused on practical and market-relevant skills that will prepare youths for employment, entrepreneurship and global competitiveness. He recognises infrastructure as the backbone of development and said he is passionate about enforcing and improving road network connectivity across his constituency to enhance mobility, commerce and rural inclusion.
