The Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, has commended the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) for its outstanding performance in enhancing the state’s revenue profile.
Speaking during his State of the State address at the Imo State House of Assembly, the Governor praised IIRS for the successful deployment of its new Revenue Management System, which has revolutionized revenue processes across the state. The digital platform has made the issuance of tax assessment notices, vehicle documentation, and tax clearance certificates seamless and more transparent.
Governor Uzodinma highlighted that revenue leakages have drastically reduced due to electronic verification systems, leading to a transformational leap in revenue generation from ₦400 million in 2020 to over ₦4 billion in 2025. This remarkable 500% increase is seen as a major enabler for the state’s infrastructural development agenda.
He further revealed that IIRS is has commenced a collaborative audit with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), a move expected to enhance tax compliance and broaden the revenue base of the state.
In addition to revenue growth, the Governor noted that the ongoing digital reforms have created job opportunities through the introduction of electronic ticketing, thereby contributing to poverty reduction across Imo State.
Governor Uzodinma lauded the leadership of IIRS for their innovation, commitment, and impactful contributions to the state’s economic development.
