The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo says his administration is working day and night to change the living conditions of the people of the LGA.
He also expressed his readiness to partner with young people in the development of Obio/Akpor.
This is contained in a release issued by the Chief Press Secretary,Ofonimo Okon and availed Daily Nigerian Horn.
The chief servant of Obio/Akpor spoke on Wednesday when he granted an audience to the Akpor Youth council at the council secretariat, Rumuodomaya.
He told his guests that having traversed the entirety of Obio/Akpor during his time as the President of Obio/Akpor Youth council, chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria in Obio/Akpor LGA, deputy chairman of the apex youth body and as the substantive chairman of the NYCN in Rivers state, he fully understands the terrain and the needs of the people and has the energy to do the job.
Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo however extended his gratitude to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the opportunity to serve and asked the youth to join him in building a prosperous Obio/Akpor.
“In the calendar of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the future of the youth is now and not the future, that is why ninety nine percent of the present crop of council chairmen in Rivers State are young people.”
“For a man who has done this for young people, we owe him our prayers and support because we wouldn’t have gotten such a privilege under the immediate past administration of governor Nyesom Wike who was never interested in our growth.”
The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government, Rivers State, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo also felicitated the new leadership of Akpor Youth Council but asked them to be good ambassadors of the LGA by maintaining law and order through partnership with their traditional ruler.
“Be our eye in your community and work with His Majesty, the King of Akpor to ensure that your kingdom is peaceful at all times. Once there is peace, companies will come and Akpor will develop more than it’s current status.”
Earlier, the President, Akpor Youth Council, Comrade Wali Promise Azubuike praised the Executive Chairman for his impacted leadership in one hundred days in office.
Comrade Wali said the Akpor Youth Council acknowledges the giant strides in infrastructure, healthcare and education amongst others.
“As young leaders, we are eager to contribute to the progress of your leadership which has been very positive so far. We therefore propose collaboration with your administration to initiate projects that promote youth empowerment, skills, development and entrepreneurship.We believe that by working together, we can unlock the vast potential of our youth and create a brighter future for our community.”
In the meantime, the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government, Rivers State, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo has promised to look into some of their demands like engagement as SAs, training in skilled areas and educational grant amongst others.
