The massive support for International businessman and popular philanthropist, Citizen Akirika Okoro, in Owerri Federal Constituency has become so infectious that his name is on the lips of almost everyone.

From Owerri Municipal to Owerri-North and down to Owerri-west, it is Akirika Okoro all the way, as the movement cannot be suppressed, neither will the momentum be silenced.

Few weeks ago, bowing to the societal acceptance of his personality, which has spread to every nooks and crannies, Citizen Akirika Okoro unveiled his Manifesto/Blueprint and the Political Party through which he intends to realize his vision for the Owerri Federal Constituency and make it the envy of other Federal Constituencies. For a man who is fully prepared, the House Of Representative Aspirant, has continued in his consultations with Leaders, Stakeholders and Elders of the Federal Constituency, assuring everyone of action packed representation, having already assembled highly knowledgeable experts on legislative matters.

In his well articulated declaration speech, Citizen Akirika Okoro stated, “My ambition to run for the office of the Member Representing Owerri Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly is borne out of the sincere passion to selflessly serve my people through Productive And Meaningful Legislative Representation”. This is a statement of one who is fully prepared to serve his people, and not rhetorics. It highlights a commitment to serving with a servant’s heart, focusing only on duty rather than self-interest, unlike what has been obtainable from those who represented Owerri Federal Constituency before now.

For a man who came from a background of integrity, credibility and dignity, the entire voting population of the Owerri Federal Constituency have filed behind him in support, because his word has always been his bond.

Assuring that he would deliver, Citizen Akirika Okoro, in his Manifesto, tagged “Legislative Reformation and Resuscitation Blueprint”, explained that it is a Strategic Initiative designed to enhance and promote Parliamentary Efficiency and Restore Public Trust through targeted legislative interventions, and he listed his cardinal objectives, as follows :

  1. Sponsorship and Co-sponsorship of Bills and Motions that are People-Oriented. These Bills and Motions will make adequate provisions for the safety of Human lives and properties, which ultimately will transcend to the creation of job opportunities, and pursue laws that will strengthen our institutions for effective functioning.
  2. Facilitate Constituency Developmental Projects And Fund Self-development Programmes; capacity building and hold business opportunity Workshops which will be accessible to all Youths within Owerri Federal Constituency, thereby making them self independent.
  3. Ensure Periodical Progress Reports On Federal Assignment And Constituency Activities. I will also be carrying out Quarterly Town Hall or Village Meeting Interface with my Constituents on how well to serve and represent better.
  4. Ensure dutiful carrying out of Oversight Functions and effective implementation of the budget by the Executive to visibly transcend on the electorates.
  5. I will ensure the promotion of local content, creativity and all manner of craft development.
  6. Policy thrust on Healthcare, with unwavering commitment to reducing maternal and child mortality. Our mothers, wives and children can no longer be allowed to die from preventable diseases, as there would be speedy access to quality medical services and preventive care.
  7. Policy thrust on Education, with total commitment to ensure every child and youth have access to quality Education is non-negotiable, while our teachers are encouraged and supported by providing Educational and teaching materials. To demonstrate how seriously we take issues of education, we are freely distributing over 100,000 Exercise Books to both Public Primary Schools and Secondary Schools across Owerri Federal Constituency, Owerri Zone and the State. We are also freely distributing thousands of Cartons of Chalks And Markers to teachers in these Public Primary Schools and Secondary Schools, to aid learning.
  8. Encourage And Strengthen collaboration among State Lawmakers in the Federal Constituency, Local Government Councils And the Federal Lawmaker, in a bid to know and agree on numerous projects to attract for the benefit of the people.

For a leader who is selfless, Citizen Akirika Okoro has pledged : “This is a collective journey for all of us. I assure you, I will neither disappoint nor fail you. I have the capacity, integrity, credibility and dignity. These are rare virtues, and I am proud to make bold to say that I have never been found wanting, so you can trust me, because, we deserve representation that is responsive and development that is inclusive, which ultimately delivers the kind of results we need”.

On zoning, “Between 1999 and 2027, (28 whole years) our brothers from both Owerri-North and Owerri-West have represented Owerri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly for 24 years, that is 12 years each, while Owerri Municipal has only represented the Federal Constituency for 4 years. It is therefore the turn of Owerri Municipal, it is the turn of integrity, it is the turn of credibility and it is the turn of dignity to represent the Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. Since these virtues are what I represent, I humbly beckon on you all to send me”. Citizen Akirika Okoro assures.

“To actualize these visions, after due consultations with my family, friends, business and political associates, including the authorities, I have decided to run on the platform of the Labour Party. Labour Party is not an Opposition Party, rather, it is a Party for Progressives. I therefore most humbly beckon on all of you to join this train”.

With the above declaration, in his Manifesto, Citizen Akirika Okoro has demonstrated that his Vision for Owerri Federal Constituency is clear, and in motion. What remains is for it to get to its destination, hence, we won’t back down until we become a Federal Constituency where the State, Region and the Country looks up to when it comes to serving the “People Through Productive And Meaningful Legislative Representation”.

Meanwhile, a recent offline and online survey have pointed in the direction of Citizen Akirika Okoro as the clear choice of many, in the 2027 Owerri Federal Constituency seat election. Participants expressed 100% total confidence and support for the humble Owerri-Nchise born aspirant. They cited his credible family background, global exposure, vast experience, human capital development, unwavering commitment to grassroots development, zoning favours him, his very deep pocket and financial war-chest, workable and implementable blueprint, which was made public during his declaration, etc, as their reasons to conclude that Citizen Akirika Okoro will deliver very effective and efficient representation for the Owerri Federal Constituency.

The survey also reveals that Citizen Akirika Okoro is closely being watched by the masses, including his speeches. Many of the participants further expressed confidence that for the first time, they have seen a would-be Federal Lawmaker who has told them the truth about attracting Federal presence through verifiable projects. They referred to the area where Citizen Akirika Okoro declared in his declaration speech, inter-alia : “My question is : how far has our Federal Lawmakers gone to attract Federal presence to our dear state? It is not the duty of Imo State Government to attract Federal Government presence to the state. Rather, it is the duty of the Federal Lawmakers to do so, through sponsorships of specific Bills and Motions, and other special legislative activities, at the National Assembly, including lobbying appropriate Federal Government Agencies, and also hobnobbing with the State Government, to make such attraction of Federal presence very stress-free”.

The implication, therefore, is that, with Citizen Akirika Okoro as a Federal lawmaker, the Imo State Government has found a reliable and capable federal legislator to work with, in drawing the attention of the Federal Government to the needs of the state.
