President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic reforms aimed at improving the well-being and prosperity of Nigerians.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and dated April 4, 2026, the President said the investments across key sectors are designed to lay a solid foundation for long-term national growth and prosperity.

According to the statement, the President made the remarks during the inauguration of the Gateway Cargo International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, a project executed under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“Our investment is about our people. Today’s foundation is for tomorrow’s prosperity,” the President was quoted as saying, noting that infrastructure development reflects confidence in Nigeria’s future.

The statement added that President Tinubu also unveiled two aircraft for the newly established Gateway Airline and commissioned additional initiatives, including 1,000 electric bikes, security vehicles, and agricultural tractors. The airport, it noted, is connected to an independent power source, reflecting ongoing investments in the energy sector.

President Tinubu commended Governor Abiodun for what he described as visionary leadership and alignment with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He also praised Nigerians for their continued support of the All Progressives Congress, stating that recent reforms have increased financial resources available to states.

The statement further quoted the President as lauding the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for initiatives aimed at improving the ease of doing business and enhancing staff welfare. During the visit, the President also commissioned a Customs Hub comprising barracks, a training college, a warehouse, and a hospital.

Governor Abiodun, according to the statement, described the President’s visit as historic and symbolic of the federal government’s commitment to national development. He commended the administration’s economic reforms, including foreign exchange unification, fuel subsidy removal, and public finance restructuring, which he said have helped restore investor confidence.

Also quoted in the statement, Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the President’s reform agenda and reaffirmed the National Assembly’s role in deepening democracy, while calling for the decentralisation of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was also said to have commended Tinubu’s leadership, reflecting on Ogun State’s development since its creation.

The statement noted that the event was attended by top government officials, including Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Minister of Communications Bosun Tijani, and Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso, as well as several state governors and traditional rulers.
