High Chief John Enyogasi, popularly known as OK 2000 (Okpara Okigwe), has declared that the 2027 House of Representatives seat for Okigwe North Federal Constituency should be zoned to Onuimo Local Government Area, insisting that rotational justice must be upheld.
The declaration was made during a working visit by Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nana Opiah, Imo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was said to be engaging key stakeholders across the state.
According to the statement, Enyogasi made the declaration before a broad coalition of political stakeholders, grassroots mobilizers and community leaders, describing it as a firm reaffirmation of an existing zoning understanding among the constituent local governments of Okigwe North. He stressed that equity, fairness and rotational representation have long sustained political balance within the constituency.
He reportedly warned that any attempt to sidestep the arrangement would amount to political injustice and exclusion, emphasizing that Onuimo LGA, having waited its turn within the zoning framework, must be allowed to produce the next federal lawmaker in 2027.
Opiah, according to the statement, explained that his visit was aimed at strengthening grassroots support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and consolidating alignment with influential leaders in the constituency. He maintained that ongoing reforms in fiscal policy, infrastructure renewal, security coordination and economic stabilization under the present administration are yielding measurable results.
He called on residents of Onuimo and the wider Okigwe North constituency to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and work toward the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027, arguing that continuity would ensure deeper dividends of democracy.
The event was attended by several prominent political figures, including the Chairman of Onuimo LGA, Hon. Chief Dr. Emeka Obi; APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Jude Madu; Vice Chairman of Onuimo LGA, Hon. Chief Eugene Ibegbu; and Hon. Dr. James Uba Esile, member representing Onuimo in the Imo State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, Esile commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he described as transformative leadership and infrastructure development in Imo State, urging unity among Onuimo leaders in support of both the governor and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other notable attendees reportedly included former Speakers of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem and Chief Major Emenike; General Manager of IMSAA, Rt. Hon. Maxwell Duru; and Leader of the Onuimo Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Andy Maduako, alongside councillors and community stakeholders.
The statement concluded that leaders present at the meeting endorsed the zoning position, describing the 2027 Okigwe North Federal seat for Onuimo as a settled matter anchored on fairness, unity and rotational justice.
