The Imo State Police Command has ordered a thorough investigation into a viral video showing a woman being assaulted by a group of men in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Monday, 3 November 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, directed the command’s X-Squad Unit to identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals involved in the incident without delay.
The victim, identified as Mrs. Agu Ndididamaka, aged 55, of Umuakaliukwu Kindred, Uboegbelu, Azaraubo, Emekuku, was reportedly attacked by six men. Preliminary investigations identified the suspects as Osuji Chiazor, Agu Azubike, Njoku Onyedikachi, Njoku Eugene, Njoku Dikachi, Njoku Emmanuel, and Iwuala Chukwuma.
According to the police, the assault was allegedly motivated by the woman’s cooperation with police officers who had earlier visited the community for investigative purposes.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects, who will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
Condemning the attack, CP Danjuma described the act as “barbaric, inhuman, and totally unacceptable,” warning that any form of jungle justice or intimidation of citizens assisting the police would not be tolerated under any circumstance.
