A key financier of Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress ADC from 2022 till present, High Chief Dr. Collins Osuagwu, has cautioned the Rebuild Imo Movement against premature destabilization of the party via unfair hijack of the party from the original members and coalition partners from other parties.

The caution from Osuagwu, Chairman of Zeus Marina Oil and Gas Limited and Founder of Collins Osuagwu Foundation who is a governorship aspirant for the 2027 polls, followed what aggrieved members termed “secret inauguration of the local government area executives of the party made of Rebuild Imo Movement members to the exclusion of original members of the party at the party’s new office in New Owerri last week which coincided with the removal of many original members of the party from the Imo ADC WhatsApp platform without notice”

It would be recalled that the Rebuild Imo Movement is the governorship campaign organisation of former governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) early last year and announced their defection to the ADC after the party was officially unveiled as the opposition coalition platform on Tuesday 2nd July, 2025 in the quest to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress APC from office come 2027.

In a chat with journalists at the weekend, Osuagwu who cited acceptable modalities for a just, equitable and fair inclusiveness in the harmonisation process approved by the National Executive Committee of the party in a press release, warned that “the coalition risks disintegration if care is not taken”

Said he, “People who were holding forte over the years, keeping the party running, cannot just be dumped in a manner that insinuates arrogance. PDP displayed arrogant disregard for the feelings and opinions of Nigerians in 2023 and suffered the consequences at the polls. The principal actors in the new coalition should avoid a repeat of the PDP 2023 disaster”
