A political strategist and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo state ,Chief Emma Okewulonu has raised alarm over what he called the wrong style in the recruitment, appointment and building of the party structures in the State and described what is presently going on with regards to the constitution of the party’s structure as a disaster waiting to happen.
Emma Okewulonu who bared his mind in an interaction with journalists on Tuesday, said that every stakeholder should be involved or at least consulted in the selection and appointment of the various layers of the party’s leadership structure inline with the democratic ethos of the ADC and to avoid any possibility of internal crises the imposition of such may result if not checked.
He pointed out that the ADC has emerged a beautiful bride in the present dispensation as Nigerians and the people of Imo state in particular expect to see a significant level of compliance with the ideal procedures in the building of its structures and operational modalities.
He stated that it is wrong, undemocratic and unacceptable for any individual to exercise what should be the collective role, by appointing, selecting and assigning positions and responsibilities in the party.
He further said that ownership of the party is a collective thing because all the stakeholders worked day and night together to secure the party and brought it to the present level of visibility in Imo state and that it is only fit and proper to provide a level playing ground for all the party members in most things especially in the crucial matter of building the structures inorder to get the best in the interest of the party and people of Imo state.
Chief Okewulonu stressed that the ADC is expected to be different from other political parties considering the special way it has emerged as the most credible opposition platform, and the overwhelming support being enjoyed across the country, pointing out that the party in Imo State should begin to prove to the people that it will be a corrective regime if given power by ensuring that it’s leadership and structure is a product of collective will rather than a personal choice of someone.
