A renowned leader of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Okenze Blyden Okanni Amajirionwu (Okenze Ntu II), on behalf of the good people of the area, yesterday, sent a save-our-souls letter to governor Hope Uzodimma over the deplorable roads in the area, lamenting that all the roads in the area are now impassable.
In a missive dated Tuesday, August 5, 2025, signed by Amajirionwu himself and made available to Daily Nigerian Horn, notes that even in the Local Government the workers now find it difficult to access the headquarters because all the roads leading to the place have collapsed.
He said, “Today, apart from the economic disadvantages, it has also become difficult for our people including your Local Government officials to access the Local Government headquarters as all the roads leading to the council headquarters have collapsed,” adding that “The situation has become a huge embarrassment to every reasonable Ngor Okpala person, particularly those who galvanized our people to support your second-term bid.”
The Okenze Mbaisii Court Area, recalled a similar open letter to governor Uzodimma, in which he and other leaders of the area had written on the problem, urging him to come to their aid pronto!
“Your Excellency, is it not time you had a little compassion and sympathy for our brothers and sisters in your government? They have lost their faces and integrity as a result of your inability to fix our roads!”
Describing Ngor Okpala as an agrarian local government with economic importance, Amajirionwu, notes that “For an average person in Ngor Okpala, good road means access to the markets and more. It also means the ability to transport goods and services without incurring exorbitant costs, which would otherwise eat into their meagre earnings.”
He reminded the governor of his reelection promise to rehabilitate the ‘Ulakwo-Imerienwe-Umuekwunne-Etche and Ulakwo-Nguru-Umuneke-Ntu-Nkwoala roads.’
Chief Amajirionwu explained explicitly, “The reality on the ground today is that as the people of Ngor Opkala struggle and suffer on these bad roads daily, they vent their frustration, anger, and feelings of betarayal on our poor and helpless kith and kin in your administration,” maintaining that “The people of Ngor Okpala deserve better than this. They should not be treated like second-class citizens. They look up to their governor to prioritize their needs and work tirelessly to improve their lives.”
As the infrastructure governor of 2025, Okenze Ntu II passionately pleaded with him to come to their aid. “You’re presently the “Infrastructure Governor of the Year,” let Ngor Okpala feel the impact, sir. We’re currently experiencing excruciating pain of poor road infrastructure,” beseeching him to take immediate action to repair and maintain the roads in the area.
“This is a solemn demand from the people who entrusted you with their mandate. The people of Ngor Okpala expect a reciprocation from you,” the letter added.
