Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, in his desire and promise to continuously bring dividends of democracy to the door steps of his constituents in Owerri zone, has embarked on another round of projects commissioning galore. Over the weekend, he commissioned six 10,000 Capacity Solar Powered Boreholes with solar street lights at: Umuoshi Umunama community in Ezinihitte Mbaise,Obohia/Ekwerazu community in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Governments Area, Ndiegbelu Umuemeri Ogwu Nguru Nwenkwo community in Aboh Mbaise LGA. Ulakwo Urban, Owerri North LGA, Holy Ghost College Owerri, and Umuimeka Village, Orji, Owerri North LGA.
Also commissioned are the completely renovated Imo State Students Union House (Star House), and Owerri North Education Authority/ Customary Court Office Complex,at Umuoba, Uratta.
Senator Onyewuchi in his address said that the multiple intervention projects were in fulfilment of his electoral promises, and vow to continue to serve God and humanity. He noted that any project he built in any community was built because the community requested for it, stressing that they are always built to regulatory standards. He noted that his choice of solar powered boreholes was because they have been proven to be sustainable and efficient. While promising to sustain his well known culture of infrastructural intervention, human capital development and empowerment, he made a solemn vow that no project initiated by him, would be abandoned.
Earlier, in their speeches the leaders of the communities that benefitted from the Solar Powered Boreholes Projects, paid glowing tribute to the lawmakers exceptional performance track record. In Umunama, Ezinihite Mbaise LGA, Chief Justus Ogu, Imo State APC Vice Chairman/Owerri Zone Chairman, described Senator Onyewuchi as a man with large heart for grassroots development, saying that the project is one that will directly impact the community.
Expressing similar sentiment in Obohia community, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, Chief Paul Obasi the Apex Leader of APC in Ahiazu, said the lawmaker touched them at the greatest point of need, stressing that what the community desired most now is good drinking water. He lauded him for bringing sustainable solution to that challenge. He was full of happiness and gratitude to him for starting and finishing the project, pointing out that many similar experiences in the past in the area, were abandoned halfway.
Barr Iheukwumere Alaribe, Executive Chairman Aboh Mbaise LGA, and Dr Patrick Ekeji, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration to Gov Hope Uzodinma, who spoke at Nguru Nwankwo, during the commissioning there, said no past leader in the office Distinguished Senator Onyewuchi occupies, showed the kind of interest he’s shown in grassroots development. According to them, if such had happened, the zone would have passed development level it is in presently. They applauded his great love for Aboh Mbaise, saying his projects littered there clear signs of the love.
Speaking at Umuimeka Village Hall,Orji Owerri North LGA, Prince Lemmy Akakem Deputy Chairman Imo Elders Council, and APC Apex Leader, in Owerri North and Sir Mike Oguike Orji town President, said Senator Onyewuchi has continued to solidify his reputation as “Mr Empowerment and Mr Project,” with his many impactful basic intervention projects, noting that he has diligently continued to keep his father’s legacy of exemplary leadership and performance alive.
Rev Fr Kenneth Uchenwa and Barr Kayode, principal and Secretary of Old Boys’ Association of Holy Ghost College school, described the project as a priceless gift that will hugely improve access to clean and safe water for the staff and students. They further posited that it’s a testament to his servant leadership, concern for the growth of the school and the state education sector.
Making his own feelings public at the commissioning of the Ulakwo Urban project, frontline politician and Apex Leader of APC in Obube/Agbala/ Ulakwo Ward, Chief Henry Njoku (Haritex), lauded the lawmaker’s grassroots development vision, which he said has led to the delivery of projects in all the nooks and crannies of the zone.
On their part during the commissioning of the newly renovated Owerri North Education Authority/ Customary Court Complex, Mrs Christie Ejiofor Education Secretary in the LGA, Hon Justice Victor Okorie, President Imo State Customary Court of Appeal, Owerri, described the event as one they never imagined could happen, as the building had remained in terrible state of disrepair for over thirty years.
According to them, the ugly situation got to a level that workers had to resort to contributing money to carry out minor repairs now and then, to enable them carry out their duties. They praised the lawmaker for ending their nightmarish experience and making the office once conducive, habitable and worthy to be called government office.
Speaking in similar vein, Prof Martin Onu, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, IMSU, who stood in for Prof C.C.Chukwumaeze, at commissioning of the renovated Students Union Government House, ( Star House), said the project was the second time the university requested his help, adding that the Senator promptly responded to, all the requests they made to him.
