As Imo State approaches 2027, our politics must rise above slogans. The real question is not just who will be governor, but who can turn Imo’s greatest asset — her people — into a development engine.

The Imo State Progressives for Change, ISPC, led by Chief Charles Umuezurike Orie, says it now has structures in 59 countries and across Imo’s 27 LGAs. If properly harnessed, that network can be more than a campaign machine. It can become an economic and knowledge bridge for Imo.

THE DIASPORA BEYOND REMITTANCES
For decades, the Imo diaspora has supported home through remittances and charity. That is important. But the next stage must be investment, enterprise, and partnerships.
Within those 59 countries are Imo doctors, engineers, academics, entrepreneurs, financiers and tech experts. Their capital, skills and networks can build hospitals, schools, industries and jobs in Imo — if we connect them deliberately.

INTEGRATED LEADERSHIP FOR INTEGRATED PROBLEMS
Chief Charles Orie’s tenure at ISOPADEC produced health centres, infrastructure, scholarships and youth programs. Voters deserve to assess the impact.
But Imo now needs a new model: integrated leadership. Health must connect to education. Education to jobs. Jobs to investment. Investment to infrastructure and security. Government must stop working in silos and start operating as one development system.

  1. Imo Global Investment Summit – Annual, with investment-ready projects in agro-processing, health, energy, tech, housing and tourism. No ceremonies. Only deals.
  2. Imo Diaspora Investment Desk – One professional office + online portal for transparent approvals, land info, and PPPs. An Imolite in London or Houston should invest without political bottlenecks.
  3. Healthcare Investment – Telemedicine with diaspora doctors. Specialist hospitals, diagnostics, and pharma. Health that creates jobs and attracts capital.
  4. Agribusiness, Not Subsistence – Industrial value chains for cassava, palm, fruits and livestock. Youth-led, diaspora-backed enterprises.
  5. Youth & Skills – Train young Imolites in AI, renewable energy, construction, and digital services. Link them to diaspora mentors. Measure success by jobs created.

ACCOUNTABILITY FIRST
A movement that campaigns for good governance must demand it after victory. Let us track jobs, investment, functional health centres, completed roads, and business survival. Leadership must be judged by outcomes, not announcements.

CONCLUSION
