This principle captures the essence of Chief Orie’s life and public service. At a time when Imo State is in need of visionary and compassionate leadership, his name has become synonymous with service, humility and genuine commitment to the people.
Chief Charles Orie is a man whose legacy, influence and humility have earned him a special place in the hearts of many people in Imo State and beyond. Fondly known as Akuatuegwu, he is widely regarded as the right person to lead Imo State. This is not only because of his distinguished career in public service, but also because of his unwavering commitment to community development and his firm belief in divine providence.
Chief Orie’s journey from Umuokanne in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area to the corridors of power in Imo State epitomises dedication and resilience. As the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ISOPADEC, he left an indelible mark on the Commission. He addressed critical workforce challenges, championed youth empowerment and initiated meaningful development projects in the oil-producing communities of the state.
His tenure at ISOPADEC brought hope to underserved communities and earned him widespread admiration. His resignation from the Commission in 2024 was a step in the right direction, as it gave him the opportunity to embark on a sabbatical, a fact-finding mission to more advanced societies to study innovative ideas that could strengthen social and economic structures in Imo State and Nigeria at large.
