A former lawmaker, Uche Steve Ogbuagu, has resigned his membership of the Labour Party, signaling a possible shift in his political alignment.
In a resignation letter dated April 13, 2026, and addressed to the Labour Party Chairman in Akabo Ward, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Ogbuagu formally announced his decision to leave the party with immediate effect.
The letter, titled “Notice of Resignation from Labour Party,” stated that his decision followed “careful reflection on personal convictions and current political redirection.”
Ogbuagu, popularly known as Ogbuagu Mbaike, expressed appreciation to members of the party for what he described as a cordial relationship and teamwork during his time in the Labour Party.
“I shall ever remain grateful for the wonderful relationship, team spirit and the sweet partnerships I built with members during my time with the party,” he wrote.
He requested that his name be removed from all party records and platforms going forward, while wishing the party success in its future endeavors.
The development has fueled speculation about his next political move, with indications that the former lawmaker may be weighing new political options ahead of future elections.
