The Institute of Cyber Security Professionals (ICSP) has announced the election of Sunday O. Olatunji as its new President, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to advance cybersecurity and digital innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
In a statement signed by Abdulwaheed Odewale, Registrar of the Institute, and dated April 11, 2026, in Abuja, the organization described the development as a defining moment for its future growth and relevance in an increasingly digital world.
According to the statement, Professor Olatunji is a globally acclaimed scholar in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and currently serves as the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Computing at Adekunle Ajasin University, where he leads advancements in computing education, research, and industry collaboration.
The Institute noted that his academic career spans Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia, including key roles at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, where he contributed to major research initiatives and industry collaborations with Saudi Aramco.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications across fields such as healthcare, energy systems, environmental sustainability, and financial technology.
The statement added that Professor Olatunji has been listed among the world’s most influential scientists by Stanford University between 2021 and 2025, and was recently ranked as Nigeria’s leading Artificial Intelligence researcher in 2025.
It further highlighted his commitment to mentorship and inclusive knowledge sharing through his global initiative, Machine Learning for All, which aims to expand access to AI education worldwide.
In his acceptance remarks, Professor Olatunji expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with stakeholders to strengthen capacity, drive innovation, and build a more secure digital future.
The Institute stated that his election signals a renewed strategic direction focused on strengthening professional standards, fostering innovation, and expanding global partnerships in cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
