The Action Peoples Party (APP) has dissolved its Imo State Executive Committee and appointed an eight-member interim caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs ahead of the state congress slated for March 24, 2026.
In a press statement dated March 2, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Barr. Uchenna Nnadi, the national leadership said the decision followed an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) convened to address issues concerning the party’s structure in Imo State.
The statement explained that the caretaker committee would oversee the party’s activities pending the conduct of Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), Zonal and State congresses aimed at electing new executives. It added that the committee would also work with stakeholders to conclude ongoing membership registration and facilitate the admission of new members into the party.
Hon. Njesi Ernest, a former state chairman, was named Interim Chairman of the committee, while Engr. Emeka Onwukwe was appointed Interim Secretary. Engr. Henry Alaribe will serve as Interim Deputy Chairman for Owerri Zone.
Also appointed were Barr. Ogemdi Ezeonye as Interim Deputy Chairman for Orlu Zone; Mr. Enerst Ezirim as Deputy Chairman for Okigwe Zone; Barr. Uche Nwosu as Interim Legal Adviser; Comrade Cajethan Duke as Interim Publicity Secretary; and Mr. Peter Etoh as Treasurer.
The party noted that the reconstitution of its leadership structure in Imo State is part of efforts to reposition the chapter and ensure a smooth and credible congress process.
