The Ezeiokwubundu Women Association of Okwu Uratta, Owerri North Local government area of Imo State, Sunday October 5, 2025 celebrated its thanksgiving service in a grand style.
The event took place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish Okwu Uratta; the women were singing praises to God for his undiluted mercy and protection.
Delivering a homily the parish Priest, Rev Father Pascal Onyeneke dwelled much on faith even as he urged the congregation to always have faith in God. The clergy reminded them that they should not lose faith during trying periods, stating that, God intervenes in such situations when people thought that all hope is lost.
He further stated that ingratitude exhibited to you by your beneficiary would not stop somebody from continuing to extend the hands of fellowship to others.
According to him, God’s intervention may not be instant but it must come to pass and therefore, people should exercise patience when passing turbulent periods.
The catholic Priest drew the readings of the day from the book of Prophet Habakkuk 1: 2-3 “ The righteous shall live by his faith” and the second letter of St. Paul to Timothy 1: 6-8, 13-14, with the theme “ Do Not be ashamed of testifying to our Lord”.
He told the catholic faithful to be steadfast and unshaken with the believe that God is the last resort “God’s intervention may be slow but it must come to pass. Nobody should lose; but only to ensure that he/she will not fall apart and allow his/her faith to be grounded.
The Women group who were gorgeously dressed retired to the residence of their National President, Mrs Collet Ngozi Okara alongside with their guest for entertainment, after the church services.
In her brief remarks, Mrs. Okara expressed gratitude to God for his infinite mercy and urged the members to remain committed to the growth of the association. She pointed out that internal wrangling among the members as well as external influence may bring bad blood to the members of the association.
Also addressing the group, a prominent citizen of the community Mr, Anthony Unakalamba urged them to avoid back-biting and “meeting before “Meeting” saying that such attitude always brings disunity among the members.
Mr. Unakalamba, who was accompanied by Mr. Kennedy Ikeagwu, told them (members) to respect the leadership of the association and stand by the truth. He said, “As a human being nobody is infallible and people need to be called order when they go astray”.
An elder statesman, Mr Michael Njoku in his remarks commended them for their solidarity and unity of purpose even as he urged them to keep the flag flying.
He further advised them to continue to speak with one voice stressing that some people may be hell bent to create crises within the ranks of the association.
