Moved by the desire to showcase Imo State to the rest of the country and world, as a profitable destination to do business, due to its numerous infrastructural investments and enabling policy framework of the 3-R Shared Prosperity Government, the Imo State House Of Assembly has urged Honourable Commissioners in specific Ministries to organize a summit/business exposition for investment promotion and growth.
Moving a Motion, during House Plenary activity on Thursday, 02/10/2025, the Chief Sponsor and Member Representing Isu State Constituency, Hon Barrister Emeka Kingsley Ozurumba, explained that the Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma has, through well thought out policies and infrastructural investments, created good and enabling environment for businesses to strive in the state.
Hon Ozurumba further explained that Imo State Government’s improvement in Road Revolution, Education, Health, Power, Agriculture, Security and other Social Investments have increased the interest of both foreign and local investment in the state. In his words, the only voice from Isu State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly said, “We are preparing Imo State to be the best in Nigeria, and currently ranks among the three states that will generate its own power. To attract investments, there must be conducive environment for it, and the 3-R Shared Prosperity Government is already providing it. With the largest Gas Hub in West Africa, we should be ready to welcome the world in our state. Unfortunately, these positive governance and policy thrust by Government have not been matched by commensurate inflow of expected investment in the State”.
Hon Barrister Ozurumba, who is also the House Committee Chairman On Labour/Productivity, Civil Service And Pension Matters, therefore called for a summit/business exposition, promotion, and attraction of companies and investments to the state, to take advantage of the positive policies of government.
Specially, he urged that the Commissioners for (a) Trade, Investment and Commerce (b) Industry, Mines and Solid Minerals (c) Finance (d) Digital Economy (e) Petroleum and Natural Gas Development (f) Other Related Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, to quickly convoke a summit/business exposition to showcase the numerous positive infrastructure and enabling policy framework of the State Government towards making businesses to grow.
Hon Ozurumba therefore called on his Honourable Colleagues to lend their voices in support of the Motion, so that the desire can be achieved.

The supporting lawmakers agreed that Imo is on the rise as the State Government has put in place Actions, vis-a-vis, infrastructures, policies, programmes and enabling environment, etc, that have started speaking louder than words, which ought to be complimented with a business summit/exposition.
Satisfied with contributions from Honourable Members, the Speaker, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe, who presided, put it to vote and it was unanimously adopted. Thereafter, he Ruled as follows ;
Be It Resolved By This Honourable House To Urge The Honourable Commissioners In The Mentioned Ministries To :
- Organize an Investment Promotional Expo/Summit to showcase the positive investment climate and the enabling policies of the 3-R Government of Imo State to the outside world.
- To invite Captains of Industry, Top Federal Government Policy Formulators and Major Players in the Nigerian Economy, to be part of this Expo.
- To identify and showcase the areas of our comparative strength in investment, with a view to highlighting the cumulative advantage to Imo people and investment pastures.
- To collaborate with the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency, ISIPA, so as to maximize and harness the very essence for the agency’s existence.
The Clerk was directed to communicate the Resolution of the House to His Excellency the Governor.
