The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, in Owerri, the Imo State capital, said it is not in any political sharing agreement with any other party in the state.

In a statement signed by the state chairman, Hon Austine Nwachukwu, dated 07/07/2025 and made available to Daily Nigerian Horn, captioned “Urgent notice to all PDP members in Imo State,” advises the PDP members to disregard the rumour, describing it as “a malicious and false narrative being peddled by some disgruntled politicians,” including their departed members.

It says, “We bring to your attention a malicious and false narrative being peddled by some disgruntled politicians and former members of our great party in Imo State. These individuals, driven by selfish interests and a desire for personal gain, are spreading lies that PDP is considering a coalition with other parties. PDP is not in any coalition.

“We want to categorically state that these claims are baseless, unfounded, and intended to mislead our members and the general public. PDP remains committed to its core values and principles, and any attempt to compromise our integrity through coalition with parties that may undermine our interests will be strongly resisted. However any other political party or individual who wants to join our great party is welcome.

“Intelligence reports have revealed that these failed politicians are working to undermine our party’s strength and unity, particularly in Imo State. Their intentions are clear : to divide us and further their own agendas.

“We must not be swayed by these lies. As PDP members, we stand firm in our resolve to ensure that power remains in the hands of the South, completing our 8-year term. Any coalition that would support the North’s bid for power would be a betrayal of our party’s mandate and a disservice to the people who have entrusted us with their mandate.

“Let us be clear : coalition is anti-PDP and dead on arrival. We will not be party to any arrangement that would compromise our party’s integrity, values, and principles.

“We urge all PDP members in Imo State to remain vigilant, ignore the these false narratives, and continue to work towards the party’s victory in 2027. Together, we will ensure that PDP remains the dominant force in Imo State and Nigeria,”
