The Imo State Police Command said it has began investigation into a viral TikTok video where one Miss Jennifer Kingsley alleged that she and her husband were assaulted and extorted of N150,000 by an officer on patrol duty at Amakohia, Owerri the state capital.
This was disclosed on Monday in a Release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP OKOYE HENRY, and made available to news men.
The Release reads:
“The Imo State Police Command is aware of a viral TikTok video posted by Miss Jennifer Kingsley, in which she accuses police officers on patrol in Amakohia, Owerri, of assaulting her and the father of her baby on February 20, 2025. Additionally, she alleges that 150,000 Naira was extorted from her while she was taking her baby to school. In response to the complaint, the victim has been contacted and has formally reported the incident to the Command.
“Consequently, an investigation is now underway to identify those responsible for possible arrest and appropriate actions. The public will be updated on the progress of the investigation as it unfolds.
“The Command is also aware of the public discussions surrounding this complaint, including comments from TikTok blogger @missnatural01. Under the leadership of CP Aboki Danjuma, the Imo State Police Command remains dedicated to upholding professionalism and accountability while ensuring public safety. Anyone with useful information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to contact the Command’s Public Relations Department.
“Furthermore, the Command urges the public to report any incidents of police misconduct, harassment, or extortion to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) or the IGP XSquad Unit. Complaints can also be submitted via the dedicated hotline at 08148024755, ensuring prompt and thorough investigation.
