It was an eventful gathering of the political class of All Progressive Congress , APC, Ohaji/Egbema LGA extraction in Imo State on Sunday, 19th January, 2025 at the home of former Minister, Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah, in Owerri, as the apex leaders drawn from the twelve wards of the council gathered for a meeting.
Being the first of its kind since the last Local Government elections and this new year, it afforded the leaders opportunity to meet and brainstorm on the challenges ahead.
Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah, a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and Reps member who represented Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in the past, in his opening remark enumerated the essence of the meeting which hinges on unity of purpose, togetherness, synergy to improve the fortunes of the party along with the aspirations of the party captains. Above all, Rt Hon Opiah stated that the essence of the meeting is to ensure that the forum gives maximum support to the exciting leadership qualities of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma and his 3R administration.
Rt Hon Opiah further expressed that in sustaining the gains garnered so far for the party by Governor Uzodimma and in working for the projections ahead, the APC leadership in Ohaji/Egbema LGA will align itself with the governor and state party machinery in every political undertaking.
The meeting afforded the Ohaji/ Egbema LGA APC leaders opportunity to have new interim officers with Rt Hon Opiah making nominations that saw Hon Chief Goddy Esom Obodo, PhD, and Prof Vita Nwulu emerge as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. While Hon Chief Acho Ejizu is the Secretary.
Leaders who spoke at the meeting showed happiness with the resuscitation of the apex leadership group adding that it would enhance the required oneness necessary for progress of the party in the LGA.
Speaking at the event, the, Hon Prince Marcel Amadioha, Executive Chairman of the Ohaji/ Egbema LGA, supported the position of Rt Hon Opiah by adding weight to the call for maximum support to the governor.
In his words, “we need to work closely to ensure that the administration of our dear Governor continues to flourish. Our leadership sgak swim or sink with the Governor”
In their separate acceptance speeches, while Hon Chief Obodo promised to deploy his wealth of experience and expertise in politics to lead the group, Prof Nwulu enjoined all present to eschew any form of bickering to enable the leaders work together.
Present at the meeting were the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Hon Prince Marcel Amadioha, Commissioner in the Imo State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon Lady Oby Ajoku PhD (Ada Ohaji), former commissioners in the state; Barr Emma Ekweremba, and Hon Alex Ogwuazu.
