The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has thanked residents of Owerri for their patience and cooperation following a recent disruption in waste evacuation services that led to a buildup of refuse across major parts of the capital city.
In a press statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, and dated March 31, 2026, the party acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the delay while assuring residents that the situation was being addressed with urgency.
The statement noted that the Eastern Waste Management Company (EWAMAC), in line with its mandate to maintain a clean environment, has resumed active evacuation of refuse after resolving the challenges that led to the temporary setback. The development has triggered a large-scale cleanup exercise across Owerri and its environs.
The ruling party expressed gratitude to the people of Imo State, particularly residents of the capital city, for their understanding during the period. It stated that many residents demonstrated restraint and confidence in the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure environmental cleanliness.
According to the APC, the renewed evacuation exercise is being carried out following directives from Governor Hope Uzodimma, with officials working round the clock to restore sanitation across the state.
The party further assured citizens that sustained efforts would be made to maintain a clean and safe environment, adding that lessons have been learned from the recent disruption to prevent future occurrences.
