As part of its commitment to quality healthcare delivery and a conducive medical environment, Orlu United Medical Hospital has donated critical medical support items to the NYSC Imo State Camp Clinic.
The items donated include; six units of Ox standing fans, one SP 30,000 generating set and a 5,000-litre GP water tank.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Chika Ugbaja, the hospital’s representative, Dr. Anthony Akhivbarem, said the donation was informed by the hospital’s philosophy of holistic patient care and its longstanding partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
According to him, the hospital considers it essential that the NYSC Camp Clinic is adequately equipped to meet the healthcare needs of corps members and medical personnel, stressing that the partnership with the Scheme has helped the hospital better understand and respond to the clinic’s operational needs.
Dr. Akhivbarem noted that the gesture was also in line with the hospital’s broader humanitarian vision, which includes extending quality healthcare services to vulnerable groups and institutions within the state.
Receiving the items, the NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mr. Evans Okwor, expressed deep appreciation to Orlu United Medical Hospital for the timely intervention. He assured that the donated items would be put to effective use and pledged to sustain the cordial relationship between the Scheme and the health facility.
The donation comes shortly after the successful 2026 Free Medical Outreach organised by Orlu United Medical Hospital in conjunction with the Merit School of Nursing Sciences, which benefited over 500 residents across Imo State and the Southeast.
The outreach, which featured free consultations, eye and abdominal surgeries for over 150 beneficiaries, has been widely described as unprecedented, with community members commending the organisation’s consistent display of compassion and humanitarian service, championed by US-based medical expert, Dr. Chika Ugbaja.
These exceptional gestures by Dr Chika Ugbaja and her USA team of Medical experts have been described in my quarters as unprecedented in the history of Medical Outreaches and Humanitarian Supports in Orlu and Imo State in general.
