The Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Elders Council has received with deep disappointment the recent public attack by our brother and friend, Hon. Rex Anunobi, leader of OPOCA, directed at Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi, the Honourable Member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

We find it unfortunate and ill-advised that rather than commend or engage constructively with the issues raised by Hon. Akarachi Amadi—particularly his bold and timely call on the floor of the House for the creation of an additional local government from Mbaitoli, the largest local government area in Nigeria—Hon. Anunobi instead chose to malign a young legislator who is simply doing the job his constituents sent him to Abuja to do.

Let it be made unequivocally clear: Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi spoke the mind and aspirations of the people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru. His demand for administrative restructuring is not only justified by demographic and geographic realities, but also reflects the long-standing desire of the people for fair representation, improved governance, and enhanced development.

We advise Hon. Anunobi, with all due respect, to channel any concerns he may have—not toward another man’s representative—but to his own elected representative, using appropriate democratic and legislative means.

This is not a time for divisive rhetoric or misguided criticism. Rather, it is a time for all leaders of conscience to focus on the collective progress of our people and align with the shared vision of unity and development championed by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, under the 3R Administration.

We reaffirm our full support for Rt. Hon. Engr. Akarachi Amadi in his efforts at the National Assembly and call on all true sons and daughters of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru to close ranks and stand firmly behind him.

Signed:
Hon. Barr. Kingsley Ononuju (Ekwedashike)
Initiator and Spokesman,
Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Elders Council
