The President General of Ezihe Town Union, Bar. Kennedy Uzondu Osunwa has carpeted few individuals in the Community, informing them to desist from portraying the name of the Isiala Mbano local government Council Chairman, Evangelist. Hon. Chika Okoroike in a bad light.
Osunwa while reacting in a statement to an online publication making round in the social media platforms with the caption, ” Ezihe Community Accuses Isiala Mbano Chairman, Prince Chika Okoroike, of Fueling Leadership Crisis Through Imposition”, stated that the anger stemmed from their political affiliation.
According to the President General, the interest and anger of few persons in Ezihe Autonomous Community is driven from their political affiliations because their view is that as the coordinator of Imo Hope for good Governance, Okigwe zone, perhaps I don’t have the right to contest for Ezihe Autonomous Community Election, but I know it is my legal right as an indigene of Ezihe and also a constitutional Lawyer, successful Human Rights Activist and a litigation lawyer, practicing in Nigeria for decades.
He noted: “the Ezihe Town Union election held on 31st March, 2025, was born out of public demand as I won in a free and fair contest,”
“The election was conducted by a seven (7) man Electoral College Officials, drawn from the 6 towns that make up Ezihe Autonomous Community, supervised by the Isiala Mbano Local Government Officials and by the Nigeria Police from the State Command to maintain law and order and equally monitored by reputable Journalists in Imo State.”
The six (6) towns that make up Ezihe Autonomous Community turned up en mass for the election as 304 voters were accredited, subsequently, I won with a total of 251 votes against my closest rival who scored 53″
“My people voted for me because I am an asset for my community, for Isiala Mbano Local Government Area and Imo State at large.
The Justice defender described the Isiala Mbano Local Government Chairman, Honourable Evang. Chika Okoroike as the watchdog of the Council,adding that he (Okoroike) is a vibrant leader who has touched lives in the grassroots at the third tier of the Government of Federal Republic of Nigeria,
He further noted, “he knows and understands the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob in the prevailing situation.”
The human rights activist therefore urged the petty persons in Ezihe, who opposed the emergence of a democratically elected Executive members of Ezihe Autonomous Community to leave the Isiala Mbano Local Government Chairman out of their political pitfalls
He advised them to rest their personal political ambition for 2027 election and join hands with the new leadership of the Community to move the town to an enviable height.
“The Government of Ezihe Autonomous Community under my diligent watch is focusing on sustaining and upholding the policy directives of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area and the State Government at large. That is our core mandate,” he recapped.
