President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united and hopeful despite ongoing economic and security challenges, as Christians across the country celebrate Easter.
The message, signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and dated April 3, 2026, was contained in a State House press statement issued on Friday.
In the statement, the President extended Easter greetings to Christians in Nigeria and around the world, highlighting the season as a reminder of sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness.
He noted that the message of Easter resonates with Nigeria’s current realities, as the nation navigates economic strain and persistent security concerns. While acknowledging ongoing threats, Tinubu assured citizens that his administration is taking deliberate steps to address insecurity.
The President commended members of the Armed Forces for their continued sacrifices and disclosed that efforts are being intensified through increased funding and strengthened foreign partnerships to combat terrorism and banditry.
The statement also referenced the President’s recent visit to Jos, Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of violence and reassured residents of the government’s commitment to restoring peace. According to the statement, security chiefs have expressed confidence in ongoing operations, with additional support being sourced internationally.
He emphasized the importance of unity, noting that national progress cannot be achieved in an atmosphere of fear and instability, and urged citizens to support lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace.
On the economy, the President described ongoing reforms as necessary measures designed to secure long-term prosperity, despite their immediate challenges. He reiterated that meaningful transformation requires sacrifice.
Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, Tinubu called for responsible civic engagement, stressing adherence to the Electoral Act and the need for political actors to prioritize peace, stability, and national interest.
