●Expresses confidence in National Chairman’s leadership
Former Secretary to the Government of Imo State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the State, Chief Chris Okewulonu, has described Governor Hope Uzodimma’s prudent and seamless management of the finances of the just concluded 4th Elective National Convention of the All Progressives Congress as a testament to the governor’s “commitment to selfless service, probity and accountability.”
He noted that the huge success of the Covention was attributable to Governor Uzodimma’s effective management of the funds in line with outlined regulations or guidelines.
Okewulonu, who was a delegate at the Convention, stated this in a statement he issued in Abuja while reacting to the outcome of the Covention.
He posited that as the Treasurer and Chairman of the Finance Subcommittee, Governor Uzodimma exhibited dexterity and unparalleled integrity in the discharge of his duties, ensuring that the Convention held hitchfree and that funds meant to drive the whole process were released timeously. He contended that the governor’s commitment to positive advancement of the party at all times has become positive reference points among APC faithful in Nigeria, stressing that leadership is all about winning and sustaining the confidence of the led.
The legal luminary pointed out that because of “Governor Uzodimma’s charismatic, organisational and sterling leadership style, the Imo contigent to the Convention, apart from being the cynosure of all eyes, received resounding ovation throughout the Covention.” He stressed that “even His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, appluaded Governor Uzodimma’s vision and dedication during his address at the Convention. Only about three persons(including Governor Uzodimma)were specifically commended by Mr. President in his address ; that was a deliberate mark of confidence from Mr. President and not a happenstance,” Okewulonu said.
He further congratulated the reelected National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC)of the party elected at the Convention He advised them to see their election as “call to service, which demands selfless sacrifice and commitment,” urging them to remain focused and avoid any conduct that could bring dichotomy among party members in various States of the federation.
“Prof Yilwatda has an administrative pedigree which is not in doubt. I strongly believe that he can effectively steer the ship of our great party based on his tested and proven antecedents. I urge all APC faithful in Nigeria to support him. With our collective support and commitment,President Tinubu’s reelection will be seamless,” Okewulonu appealed.
