The Ezumezu Ugiri, the apex socio-cultural body of the Ugiri Clan, recently paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Chika Okoroike, the Chairman of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area. This visit, which included Ndi Eze Ugiri Clan, highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration between traditional institutions and local government administration in advancing the interests of the Ugiri people.
The delegation was led by Hon. Chief Ezenna Nnanyereugo Okoro, the President General of Ezumezu Ugiri, and included prominent traditional rulers such as Eze Joseph Ike, Chairman of the Council of Ugiri Traditional Rulers; Eze Jude Onyenagbaru(Eze Sigaba) of Umeneke; Eze Barr. Uchegbu of Umuozu; Eze Ohalete of Oka, Eze Agbaka of Ugrinna; and Eze Leo-Mike Enwerem of Umuebie. Other notable attendees included Hon. Julius Asagwara, Chief Theo Duru, Chief Nwigwe (Mahakwe), Chief Mma Achonu, and the President General of Oka Community Chief Lasbrey, who also serves as the P.O.P. Ugiri Clan, along with various Presidents General from other communities within the Ugiri Clan.
During the visit, Hon. Chika Okoroike warmly welcomed the delegation and pledged his support for the initiatives of Ezumezu Ugiri and Ndi Eze. He encouraged the traditional rulers and community leaders to continue their efforts in promoting peace, unity, and development within the Ugiri Clan.
In his response, Hon. Chief Ezenna Nnanyereugo Okoro reaffirmed the position of Ezumezu Ugiri as the apex socio-cultural organization of the Ugiri Clan. He emphasized that Ezumezu Ugiri is neither a club nor a political body but a unifying force aimed at promoting the cultural heritage and unity of the Ugiri people. He encouraged other social clubs and organizations within the Ugiri Clan to continue with their activities, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving common goals.
The traditional rulers, led by Eze Joseph Ike, expressed their gratitude to Hon. Okoroike for his hospitality and support. They acknowledged the significance of the local government’s role in advancing the welfare of the Ugiri Clan and pledged their continued cooperation.
The visit concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to work together in promoting the development and unity of the Ugiri Clan.
