The Amalgamated Olu Umuowere Forum, a body of African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders in the nine Local Government Areas of the Owerri Senatorial Zone, has rejected what it described as fraudulent attempts to impose false party structures on the zone.
In a communiqué issued on Wednesday, the Forum dismissed the purported harmonization lists being circulated as mischievous fabrications aimed at misleading members and destabilizing the coalition. The group declared such lists null, void, and of no consequence, insisting that they do not represent the official structure of the ADC in Owerri Zone.
The Forum emphasized that no individual, group, or coalition partner possesses the monopoly of authority to impose structures on the party. According to the communiqué, all decisions affecting the zone must be products of genuine consultation and collective agreement among stakeholders.
On harmonization, the leaders stated that the process must reflect fairness, equity, and inclusivity. They demanded that all coalition partners who joined the ADC through other political platforms must be duly accommodated. At the same time, they insisted that not less than 30 percent of structures must remain with the authentic ADC family, described as the “ADC-DNA,” whose consistency and sacrifices laid the foundation for the growth of the party.
Reaffirming their commitment to due process, the stakeholders said leadership positions in the zone would only emerge from dialogue, consensus, and transparent decision-making. They vowed to resist any form of unilateral imposition or manipulation. The Forum also urged members across the nine LGAs to ignore what it called the distractions of false propaganda and instead focus on building a united and credible political alternative for Imo State.
The communiqué went further to reaffirm a vote of confidence in the duly recognized executives of the ADC at ward, LGA, state, and zonal levels. It warned that any clandestine attempts to undermine their authority would be firmly resisted.
In a firm closing note, the Forum declared that the Owerri Senatorial Zone “shall not and cannot be hijacked.” It added that any act of imposition, manipulation, or subversion of due process would be confronted without hesitation, stressing that their unity is unwavering, their determination resolute, and their resolve to defend the integrity of the coalition absolute.
The communiqué was signed by LGA chairmen and executives from across the zone, with copies sent to top party leaders including ADC National Vice Chairman (South-East) Sir Bon Unachukwu, State Chairman Prof. James Okoroma, and notable political figures such as Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, Hon. Uche Onyeaguocha, and Hon. Dr. Raymond Opara.
