THE ROAD TO DOUGLAS HOUSE IS PAVED WITH THE GOODWILL AND TRUST OF IMO PEOPLE, NOT WITH INSULTS AND VITUPERATION
As you navigate the complex political terrain of Imo State, I feel compelled to offer a word of caution. Your recent actions and, more pointedly, your calculated attacks on His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, have not gone unnoticed. They have raised significant concerns among stakeholders and loyal Imolites who have invested in the state’s continued progress. I urge you to recalibrate your strategy and adopt a more respectful and constructive tone when engaging with the Governor and the institutions he represents.
Your gubernatorial ambition is well-known. However, you must understand that the path to Douglas House is earned through the genuine trust and mobilized goodwill of the people, not seized through vitriol and character assassination. Your current approach of relentless criticisms and insult towards a sitting Governor who is delivering on his promises does not build confidence; it undermines your own credibility and alienates the very electorate you seek to lead. Securing your ambition will require you to engage in healthy, respectful dialogue with the established leadership and the people of Imo.
I must also address your recent, highly publicized philanthropic endeavors. To many observers, these actions appear less as a sincere desire to serve and more as a transparently political calculation. Where was this conspicuous generosity in years past when our people were in need? This sudden concern, coinciding precisely with your political campaign, is widely perceived as a crude attempt to purchase goodwill and manipulate public sentiment. The people of Imo are discerning; they recognize the difference between consistent service and opportunism.
True leadership is demonstrated through consistency and an unwavering commitment to public service. The people of Ngor Okpala, in particular, are known for their loyalty and appreciation for genuine development. They are keenly aware of Governor Uzodimma’s monumental achievements, which have transformed Imo State through unprecedented infrastructure development, healthcare reforms, and educational advancements. The Governor’s focused attention on the development of Ngor Okpala is a matter of public record, and the people have taken note. This is the model of result-oriented leadership that resonates.
As you proceed, it is imperative you reflect on your core motivations. Is your candidacy driven by a genuine passion for public service, or is it fueled by personal ambition? The people of Imo State deserve leaders who put their interests first, not politicians who see public office as an end in itself.
Let me be clear: Ngor Okpala is not resistant to new leadership. But we demand leaders who prove their commitment through deeds, not just words. We expect your aspirations to be secondary to the welfare and development of our people.
In conclusion, I urge you to abandon this path of divisive rhetoric and adopt a more statesmanlike demeanor. The project of building a greater Imo State, under the proven leadership of Governor Uzodimma, requires unity and constructive engagement, not bitter attacks from within. I hope you will consider this counsel and choose a new course that aligns with the collective aspirations of our people.
Sincerely,
Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, Ph.D
Member Representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency, Imo State House of Assembly.
