Every generation has its share of leaders, discoveries, challenges, developments, and experiences. Remarkably, every era is unique in concept, structure, and organization.
In this dispensation, Sir (Esv.) Bon Unachukwu, a man with exceptional capacity, has assumed duty as the National Vice Chairman South East of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He was sworn in alongside Senator David Mark as the party’s National Chairman and His Excellency Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary at the party’s NEC meeting on Tuesday, 29th July 2025. Also sworn in with them is Barrister Joy Chioma Anyanwu from Ohaji/Egbema as the Assistant National Woman Leader South East.
This remarkable milestone marks a new chapter in the political landscape of the South East region.
Unachukwu, whose last bit was the Rebuild Imo Movement coordinator of Owerri zone, is widely recognized as one of the state’s finest political leaders. With an impressive career spanning various leadership roles, he brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his new position. His previous service as Owerri zonal chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his impactful tenure as the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning have demonstrated his commitment to public service and regional development.
In addition to his political prowess, Sir Bon, as he is fondly called and addressed, is a respected professional Estate Surveyor & Valuer, further showcasing his versatility in business and other spheres of life.
As the interim national vice chairman South East, Sir Bon, the Ikeduru-born technocrat, will spearhead efforts to strengthen the party’s presence and impact across the region. His leadership promises to bring innovation, inclusivity, and progress, reflecting the aspirations of the people he serves.
Unachukwu has called for support and prayers as he leads the African Democratic Congress to new heights in the South East.
His slogan is: ‘Together, we can build a stronger, more vibrant political future for our region in general and our state in particular.’
Imolites and indeed Ndigbo are delighted at this well-deserved appointment of Sir Bon Unachukwu and another Imolite, Barrister Joy Chioma Anyanwu, woman leader, South East. Other South East ADC members that got national positions are Barr Chinedu Igbo, national organizing secretary; Comrade Nkem Ukandu, national welfare secretary; Princess Nneka Nebo, deputy national auditor; Dr Chikwe Okorogwu, national PWD leader, and Comrade Chinonso Obasi, deputy national youth leader.
It will certainly lead to other better and bigger accomplishments.
