Comrade Stephen Akuchie, has emerged Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Imo State Chapter, Daily Nigerian Horn was reliably informed.
According to a release issued by the NYCN, Imo State Chapter Media Directorate and availed Daily Nigerian Horn on Sunday, Akuchie’s emergence was ratified during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting/retreat held in Abuja from July 14th to 16th , The release read:
“The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter, under the leadership of Comr. Stephen Akuchie wishes to address recent concerns and misinformation regarding his emergence as Chairman.
KEY FACTS TO NOTE
“1. VALID EMERGENCE: Comr. Stephen Akuchie’s emergence was ratified during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting/retreat held in Abuja from July 14th to 16th, 2025.
“2. DISPUTING INVALID CLAIMS: We refute the validity of a consent judgment being circulated, as it was entered into unconstitutionally by the former Chairman after the expiration of his tenure in 2021.
“3. ADDRESSING LEADERSHIP VACUUM: The NEC meeting addressed the existing leadership vacuum in the Imo State chapter, paving the way for Comr. Stephen Akuchie’s leadership.
“4. CALL TO UNITY: We urge Imo youths to rally behind this new leadership, working together towards youth development, empowerment, and progress.
“5. APPRECIATION: We thank Humphrey Osuji for his commitment and offer him fellowship to continue supporting our cause.

In same vein, the National President of NYCN, Amb.(Dr.) Comrade Solomon Adodo in a letter dated July 16th, 2025, he addressed to Governor Hope Uzodimma, conveyed the appointmen of Akuchie as Imo State Caretaker Committee Chairman.
Part of the letter read:
“Based on the foregoing, Rt. Hon. Comr. Stephen Daberechi Akuchie has been appointed to lead a 17 man state Executive Committee of the Council in Imo State as a Caretaker Committee Chairman, to midwife the conduct of an Extra Elective Congress. He is to commence his duties as a Caretaker Chairman after a due inauguration by the NEC”
