As part of ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access across Imo State, the State Government has directed the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) to construct a 20-bed hospital in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area. This landmark initiative, championed by Governor Hope Uzodimma, reflects the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in oil-producing communities.
The Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, made this announcement during the commission management team’s visit to the Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Council. He emphasized that Governor Uzodimma has directed ISOPADEC to spearhead the hospital project as part of his broader developmental agenda for oil-producing areas. Chief Onyedebelu reiterated the governor’s dedication to delivering impactful projects that enhance the welfare of these communities, particularly in critical sectors such as healthcare.
The 20-bed hospital will be furnished with state-of-the-art medical facilities to address key healthcare needs, including maternal and child health, emergency care, and general medical services. This project is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents, reducing the strain on existing medical facilities.
In response to the announcement, the Executive Chairman of Ohaji-Egbema Local Government, Hon. Marcel Amadioha expressed his unwavering support for the initiative. He commended Governor Uzodimma for his relentless efforts in driving infrastructural and social development projects across the state. Hon. Amadioha also pledged the full cooperation and support of the local government in ensuring the successful execution and operation of the hospital.
This initiative further underscores the Imo State Government’s continuous efforts to bridge the healthcare gap in rural and oil-producing areas, reinforcing Governor Uzodimma’s vision for sustainable development.
The project is set to commence soon, with all necessary resources and partnerships in place to guarantee its timely completion.
