My attention has been drawn to various congratulatory publications in print media regarding the 60th birthday celebrations of the Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. I have received numerous calls from concerned Imo citizens alerting me that the birthday publications which were purported to have been signed by the 2023 House of Assembly Candidates of the PDP included my name as one of the signatories. I wish to categorically dissociate myself from them. I neither contributed to nor authorized any part of these publications.
As someone who contested under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Isu State Constituency in 2015, 2019, and 2023, I find it perplexing that my name could be appropriated by mischief makers for such unauthorized publications. It is even curious that such mischievous publications were not extended to cover previous House of Assembly candidates except those for the 2023 elections. This makes the inclusion of my name in the advertorials highly suspicious. I,therefore, consider it deeply offensive that some individuals, acting without my consent, could drag my name into such.
For the avoidance of doubt, I formally resigned from the PDP on March 24, 2024, severing all ties with the party. I have since moved on and established myself within the All Progressives Congress (APC), where I am actively contributing to governance and development. Integrity has always been the foundation of my political journey, and I remain committed to upholding principled leadership.
I, therefore, demand that my name be immediately removed from these publications. Additionally, I expect a formal apology from the organizers of these advertorials, to be published through the same media outlets, within one week of this notice.
Signed:
Hon. Osakwe Modestus,
Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs,
Imo State.
