The Local Government chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State have expressed their support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu, maintaining that he is still the National Secretary of their party.
In a statement, the leaders condemned what they referred to as the illegal position of the party BoT against a competent court of jurisdiction, saying that they cannot deviate from the law.
It says, “The Local Government Chairmen of PDP in Imo State strongly stand with the Leader of PDP in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of PDP now and anytime.
“This statement issued from a collective condemnation by the chairmen of the illegal stance of the PDP BOT against a Law Court of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria which has given a stay of execution of the Order of court obtained by Okoye. Nigeria is a Democratic Nation therefore upholds the rule of law.
“All the political appointees and the political parties took oath to uphold the same principle and we as citizens of Nigeria cannot deviate from this provision of the law.
“The action of the BOT is to say the least an afront on the reverred Court of Appeal of Nigeria which made the order BOT has bent on thwarting and we the chairmen of PDP say no.
“Let the status quo Bellum be maintained until the order is vacated or the Supreme Court gives another verdict after hearing the appeal which is pending therein.”
