…Pledges 5-million-naira support for his Alma mater.

The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo has said that he is in politics to serve the people and not to enrich himself.

He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for giving him and other young people the opportunity to serve.

Amb. Ihunwo made the remarks while playing host to the 1999 class of Jenida Secondary School, Port Harcourt who were his classmates.

The elated Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government said he was happy to see many of his classmates after many years of graduation.

He also announced a five-million-naira donation to his alma mater to carry out some developmental projects.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman,Ofonime Okon disclosed this in a release.

“We are not against the elders but this is the time for youth, we are going to bring innovations and style into governance in ensuring the development of our LGA because we have the capacity and vibrancy to do this job.”

“I am even the youngest council chairman in Rivers state and His Excellency, the governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has trust in my capacity to lead our people this point time, that is why you are seeing me working day and night to improve the living condition of our people in many ways. Good enough, I’m young and have the energy and strength to do this work.”

Based on the activities of fraudsters, the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government, Rivers State, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo made it clear that the council has just one revenue consultant headed by Mrs Ogechi Wechie.

He asked the business community to be wary of criminals.

“For those of you who are doing business in our local government, be rest assured of my support. We have discovered that there are lots of criminals masquerading as revenue agents. However, be guided that the council has just one revenue consultant who is Mrs Ogechi Wechie, as a council we are also working with the police to arrest fake revenue agents.”

Earlier, the leader of the group, Ibukun Adeshida thanked the Executive Chairman for opening his doors to them amidst his tight schedule.

Miss Ibukun also commended her former classmate for the impactful leadership since mounting the saddle as the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor local government.

She added that the 1999 sets of Jenida secondary school have lined up some programs aimed at giving back to their alma mater.

“We have listed the things we need to do in giving back to our Alma mater but everything will come from individual donations and contributions and these projects are huge, we are also taking steps to register this group so that we can have the legal backing to operate. Mr chairman, the God that has started this journey with you will guide you till the end.”
