A seven man member interim committee has been set up with the responsibility to pilot the affairs of the Ofekata Orodo autonomous community to pilot the affairs of the community for six months and to represent Ofekata people at Orodo, local government and at the state level .
The seven man caretaker committee were selected two men from each of the three blocks that made up the Ofekata Orodo community.
They include chief Ndudi Oparaeke–chairman, chief Damian Abuta–vice chairman, Hon Boniface Alozie—sec and Dr Bede Amaezeshi Assistant Secretary.
Others are Chuks Anyanwu Treasurer Polycap Nwankwo PRO and Anyadike Chigozie provost..
Addressing the caretaker committee members, the Eze elect of Ofekata Orodo Autonomous community -the Okata two of Ofekata ancient kingdom Engr Mercel Uzegbu charged them to be good Ambassadors of the community and serve as a shining example.
Engr Ezegbu advised them to work in synergy with other leaders in the community as well as the election planning committee and to ensure that they beat the Decemeber 26th deadline when the community proposed to conduct a general election.
According to him, the electoral committee will continue todo their job as the aspirants are also expected to go on with their campaign.
The Ofekata eze elect further advised to live above board and to shun acts capable of truncating peace in the community and prayed God to grant them the grace to function optimally with the fear of God.
One of the sons of Ofekata and former Solicitor General Imo State Retired Barr S.U. Osuoha who administered oath of office to the members as well advised them to work as a team with other leaders to move the community to the next level.
Others who spoke during the meeting include chief Clement Nlemigbo, Chief priest of the community chief Anayo Ajoku and Hon Gerald Uzegbu among others.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the caretaker committee chief Ndudi Oparaeke pledged to transform Ofekata community to an enviable height but with the help of the people.
He as well promised to work in synergy with all relevant groups including the youths and village heads.
Oparaeke pointed out that as a security officer, he will make Ofekata community crime free where the people will sleep with their two eyes closed. He called to be on all hands on deck to make the community a safe heaven of our collective dreams.
Recall that the appointment of a caretaker member committee came up during an emergency general meeting of the community held at the Ofekata civic. hall on Tuesday 7th September 2021 following a motion moved by a member to set up a caretaker committed to pilot the affairs of the Community for six months which the entire house unanimousely supported.
