A non-governmetal women organization; National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, that advocates gender welfare issue to the government and the society, has inaugurated executives of its chapter in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The inauguration which took place Wednesday at the LGA headquarters in the state, had 18 women selected to handle the post of the Vice President, Secretary, Public Relation Officer, Financial Secretary, among others.
Present to handle the process were – the National Secretary, Hon. Chief Mrs Cheryl Amonu, the State President Nneoma Stella Anyacho, the Ist State Vice President and representative of the LGA/Okigwe Zone at the State, Lady Irene Ukanwa, State Secretary, Mrs Chinenye Akwukwaegbu, and other Executives, including the Prime Minister of Umuelemai autonomous community, Chief Anthony Ezioha, who was there to bless the kolanut for them.
In their respective speeches, the national and state executives congratulated the new delegates and urged each of them to endeavor to have a copy of their constitution, so they will always be mindful of their diverse duties, and not encroach into another persons assignment.
Reflecting on their slogan which is ‘Service in Unity’ , they advised them to always give honour to whom honour is due, leave by example, so new women and other ones who left the body for one complaint or the other, will be attracted back into the organization.
They further clarified that even though they are not a political organization, that all they owe the State Government is their support, for the Governor and his wife, according to them, have proven that they have the best interest of the state at heart.
Adding her voice, the NCWS LGA President, Hon. Mrs Stella Onyema Laz who had earlier been appointed at the state level, commended the apex leaders for finally making them full members of the organization by inaugurating delegates that will work with her.
She assured them of working hand in hand with her new team in ensuring that the mission and vision of the body is actualized. She further congratulated the newly inaugurated officials and assured them of always carrying them along in issues that pertains to NCWS.
Also speaking, some of the new executives; the 1st Vice President of NCWS in the LGA, Hon. Mrs Theresa Okoro, one of the Financial Secretaries, Mrs Leticia Iwuala and one of the Public Relation Officers, Chief Mrs Ego Aririatu thanked the delegates for finding them worthy to serve in such capacity, saying that it is really an honour.
They promised to be diligent, honest and sincere in implementing their duties, as not to let the organization down.
The new delegates were sworn in and given Oath of Office forms to fill and submit.
