The apex organization governing the affairs of Students from Isiala Mbano and Ehime Mbano Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Imo State known as National Association of Mbano Students(NAMS) has inaugurated her executive council and parliamentary arm leadership.
The inauguration took place last weekend, 10th April at Ibari Mbano spot in Owerri where past and present stakeholders of the union were in attendance.
Those inaugurated in the NAMS executive council are Comr. Anthony Columbus .N from Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri (FedPolyNek) institution as President, Comr. Azuoma Richard Kelechi from Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) as Vice President, Comr. Ikeanumba Priscillia .C of FedPolyNek as Financial Secretary, Ozioma Ihematunam John of FUTO as Secretary General, Ejiaku Jovita . N of Imo State Polytechnic as PRO while Abuchi Onyedikachi favour of Michael Opara University of Agricultural Umudike was inaugurated as NAMS Treasurer.
Those inaugurated in the NAMS parliamentary arm are Rt. Hon. Anyianwu Martin of FUTO as Speaker, Rt.Hon. Iwuji Emmanuel Chukwuebuka of UNN as Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ibemere Franklin of FedPolyNek as Clerk, Hon. Hycienth Emmanuel of Imo State Polytechnic as Chief Whip while Hon. Wilfred Chigozirim (UNN), Hon.Osuji Ifesinachi (FedPolyNek), Hon.Aguecheta Mathew (MOUAU), Hon.Duru Chinedu (UNICAL), Hon.Anyinwu Princess V.(UNICAL), Hon.Amaesi Amarachi(FUTO), Hon.Amadi Marvis (Moctech) and Hon. Basil Nkeiruka(ImoPoly) were inaugurated as members of the parliament.
Admonishing the newly inaugurated leaders, Comr. Ofoeze Uzochukwu who is among the pioneer leader of the association, he testified that Mbano is one united family and urged them to sustain the harmony. He charged the parliamentarians to ensure adequate checkmating and implementation of the executive policies so as to fulfill the union constitutional provision.
The foremost auditor general of the union, Comr. Nnadi Emeka congratulated the new leadership of NAMS, expressed delight for the growth of the organization and pledged his commitment towards the betterment of the organization and Mbano Students in general.
Presenting his acceptance speech, Comr. Anthony Columbus N. on behalf of other inaugurated NAMS leaders, he said “I promise that we shall stand on the vision and mission statement of our founding fathers of this association. We also assured them that their labour shall not be in vain.” He promised.
Columbus declared that his administration mission and vision are financial policy where they shall establish bank account operation for the association, educational policy for academic enlightenment programme, unity and oneness policy to sustain harmony among themselves, strong and formidable body for adequate recognition in the State and Federal level, protection of NAMS members interest and Publicity policy.
The President called for prayers and support from all well meaning indigenes of Mbano even as he vowed to uplift the association within his administration.
Speaking with Nigerian Horn, the NAMS electoral committee Chairman, Uche Damian Ahanonu revealed the difficulties he encountered during the process of the election, he confessed that the election was most transparent as Mbano Students are satisfied with the leaders elected.
He charged the new leadership to perform beyond expectations, rule in accordance to the NAMS Constitution and promised to serve as an extraordinary watchdog to the leadership.
