Elder statesman, Chief John Enyogasi popularly known as OK2000 has called for truce or peace between Governor Hope Uzodinma and Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume.
Enyogasi hinged his intermediary role on the need for all political gladiators in Imo State to work together for the betterment of the state and her progress.
Enyogasi who was one of the three major financial contributors for the creation of Imo State in 1976 opined that Governor Uzodinma and Senator Araraume should always work together because the three senatorial zones that make up Imo State are siblings of the same parents from historical perspective.
He pleads for Governor Uzodinma to put aside whatever misgivings (if any) he may have against Araraume for both of them to work together in order to bring the dividends of democracy to the beleaguered citizens of Imo State.
According to him, “Araraume remains the number one choice of Okigwe zone people. When Araraume goes to Abuja as a ranking or experienced senator, he will complement the laudable infrastructural development going on at the moment in Imo State by Governor Uzodinma and that is how a state develops rapidly”.
He goes ahead to assure Governor Uzodinma that Senator Araraume won’t covet his position or contest against him in 2023. OK2000 also enjoins Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Araraume with a Certificate of Return without further delay now that the coast is cleared for Araraume as ordered by recent judgments ofvarious courts in the land so that he can join his colleagues in the senate chamber on April 13 when the senate will reconvene plenary.
He equally enjoins or pleads with other candidates in the election to withdraw their court cases or litigations against Araraume. He pleaded with them to sheathe their swords and wait for their own turns and allow Araraume to use his experience as a former senator to represent the zone as the best.
He lamented the continued exclusion of Okigwe zone in the senate whereas other 108 senatorial districts have their own senators fully represented at the senate.
According to him, “Okigwe zone people must put on their thinking cap in order to maximize the remaining two years left for the zone in the senate and Araraume is the most competent at the moment to represent the zone”
Lastly, he assures all the contestants in the election that he remains a father figure to all of them and doesn’t discriminate or hate any of them but based his support for Araraume on legislative experience and track record.
