The Paramount ruler of Ihim Autonomous Community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and Chairman of Okigwe Elders and Leaders Forum, His Royal Majesty Eze Oliver Ohanweh, has said that his bringing Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume and former Governor Ikedi Godson Ohakim together to know each other is the worst act which he has regretted in his life time.
He disclosed this in an exclusive chat with THE ONION in his Wisdom palace at Ihim Autonomous Community last week.
Eze Ohanweh, who is also the president of the Association of Eastern Traditional Rulers of Niger Delta and Vice Chairman of Eastern Royal Fathers of Nigeria, as well as the Chairman/Chief Executive officer of Olinco Goup of Companies, maintained that, though Ohakim and Araraume are brothers from the same Osu clan, two of them never knew themselves until he brought them together in his palace.
“One of the things I regret in life is making Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Governor Chief Ikedi Ohakim to know themselves. I merged them together because they are brothers.
“They didn’t know themselves before then. The truth of the matter is that I know Senator Ifeanyi from his father to his mother. I know Ikedi Ohakim from his father to his mother. They all are my brothers. I brought them together, “Eze Ohanweh stated.
Continuing, the Royal father said: “Through that association Ikedi became a commissioner, through that association Araraume became a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Ikedi became a Governor at a time. Because it was when they said it will not be Araraume, Professor Maurice Iwu picked Ikedi Ohakim.
“So, what is the fault of Maurice Iwu? Instead of it to go to another zone, let it be one of you, so that there will be peace. But today there is no peace”
Eze Ohanweh who is the Obi Gburugburu stated that he is the most dignifying traditional ruler East of the Niger, going by his personal antecedents in life and the overall paramount ruler from Osu clan, where the two brothers Araraume and Ohakim come from.
He added that it was for that reason he brought his two brothers together to forge ahead politically, for peace and progress of their community and by extension the entire Okigwe zone but regretted that today, the reverse is the case.
The royal father lamented that the misunderstanding between the two brothers is threatening the unity of Okigwe zone, as your association with either of them will disintegrate your supporters from the zone.
Eze Ohanweh, continuing in pains, stated thus: “By the way, I brought you two together, you were sleeping in one bed. You were eating from one plate. You were cooking in my kitchen and everything. That is why, like the first question you asked, I regret bringing the two brothers, Araraume and Ohakim together.
The distinguished Royal Father further quipped; “because they have drawn the line that in Okigwe zone you don’t know where you belong to and they think of themselves. They are not thinking of the zone and they try to extend such attitude to other people outside the zone. Other people are very intelligent. They are looking for good heart. In Okigwe zone leave these people because both of them can never agree to work together and if you pitch your tent with Ohakim, you are in trouble because it has divided your supporters. You go and pitch your tent with Araraume, you have divided your supporters”.
Eze Ohanweh also hinted that he had forced himself to bring Senator Araraume and Chief Ohakim together once again, in his burning desire to bring peace and progress to Okigwe zone but unfortunately the association did not last.
