Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Samdaddy) has appealed to the good people of Imo State to remain calm over the deplorable condition of roads in the state, and charged the APC led government to expedite action towards rescuing them.
In a release by his Media Adviser, Ikenna Onuoha, Senator Anyanwu regretted the sufferings Imo people are passing through due to the condition of roads in the state, advising them not to lose focus.
According to him, from Anara, Amaraku, Okwelle, Aba branch, Lokpa Nta, Aguneze roads in Okigwe, Uratta, Orji, Atta, Akabo, Egbeada, Mbieri, Ifakala, Umunoha, Umuguma, Nekede-Fedpoly roads in Owerri and Umuaka, Amurie-Ogwa, Owerre Ebeiri- Umuna, Umuowa, Ibiasiegbe, Awo Omama roads in Orlu zones amongst others were in bad shape, adding that the current nature of the bad roads affected virtually all economic activities in the state leading to hardship and agony.
Senator Anyanwu therefore suggested the need for government to concentrate on rural and other major economic roads within the city, rather than remaining silent in the midst of complaints and anguish of Imo people.
“In as much as the Covid-19 pandemic caused lots of damages to nations which Imo state is not an exception thereby increasing the rate of hardship on the people, there is need for government to give remedial touches to some major roads to boost economic activities and as well reduce the level of sufferings our people are going through. The state of roads in the state are not commendable, therefore, government should rise to the occasion and bridge the gap”. He submitted.
He further averred that since one of the major capital projects of a viable administration were security of lives, properties and construction of good roads, the present government in the state should stop given excuses over things that matter to avoid speculation and unhealthy criticism, and stressed the need for all hands to be on deck towards making Imo the envy of other states.
