The National Youth Summit has disclosed that it is using the instrument of entrepreneurship technology to grow an emerging leadership that will drive the developmental process of this country.
The Head of Publicity, (LOC, NYS Owerri 2019), Uzodinma Akalonu aka U-Zone made the disclosure during a Press briefing declaring open the 2019 edition of the National Youth Summit holding in Owerri.
The group, he stated, believes in the emergence of a new Nigerian which is governed by a fresh generation of leaders. In his words, ‘we also believe that a new Nigeria will emerge through entrepreneurship and technology which has helped to develop many countries in the world today and Nigeria cannot be left behind’’
Continuing, Akalonu remarked that ‘this year’s Summit will equip and train these young leaders that will play major roles in their communities, states, regions, nation, continent and the world at large. We are building a generation of value-driven and responsible leaders that will think character, excellence, integrity, accountability, competence, capacity, vision, common good and unity for our society.’’
The annual event which is the 11th in the series will hold from October 23rd-27th at the popular Imo International Convention Centre (IICC) Owerri. Time is 8am and 5pm daily. A concert and rally has also been scheduled to hold on Friday, October, 25 at the Cenotaph. This is the second time Owerri is playing host to the event after the 2012 edition.
The theme of the Summit organised by a non-governmental organization, the Golden Heart Foundation, is Entrepreneurship and Technology and has been packaged to equip the youths and emerging leaders for national transformation. The event to be attended by delegates from all over the country is expected to host about 50,000 youths.
In line with the assertion of the popular broadcaster and the Head of Publicity that ‘we develop people based on the spheres of the society’, various certificate training schools has been scheduled to run throughout the event.
The identified schools include global school of leadership, School of National Transformation, School of Social Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition, School of Career Development, School of Business Development, School of Arts Entertainment, School of Media and ICT and School of Ministry. They will be managed by experts according to the statement.
Certificates will be issued to delegates after the training and admission into the Summit is at no cost. Akalonu also expressed gratitude to the convener of the National Youth Summit, and President of the Golden Heart Foundation and Dominion City Worldwide, Rev. Dr David Ogbueli.
In response to a question and in what appears a testimony, a popular social youth activist who is now an entrepreneur, CEO of his own business, Life coach and trainer, Mr. David O, Jacob (DOJ) confirmed that he is a product and discovery of the program when it held in 2012.
He claimed to have not only launched his own business two years after in 2014 but also profited spiritually becoming a born again among other mental benefits.
