The rebuild Imo State government of Governor Emeka Ihedioha has organized a one day seminar for the Transition Committee Chairmen in the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.
The State government through her Financial Advisory Committee led by Dr. Abraham Nwankwo, held the seminar on Monday 29th July at Oxygen Hotel Owerri with the TC Chairmen were in attendance.
In his address, Hon. Mayor Chukwudi Eze who is the Special Assistant to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said the seminar was to make sure that the Chairmen revive the right ways of doing things and also que into the governor’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) programme.
Eze who doubled as the representative of Ihedioha in the occasion described the seminar as a call for transparency, due process and rightful ways of doing things.
“We’re happy that the Local Government Chairmen are here in their numbers, the Chairmen are important stakeholders in this business as the third tears of Government. The roles expected from them will not be complete if they don’t que into the policies and programmes of the Government. Very soon Imo people will begin to benefit from the experiences gathered here.
“The message from His Excellency is very simple, they should comply, they are the Emeka Ihedioha in their various Local Government, the general principles of the governor’s policies and programmes should not escape from their thinking and imagination”. Eze advised.
In his brief remark, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo reminded the TC Chairmen that they have historic responsibility to join hands in rebuilding Imo with Governor Ihedioha.
He urged them to utilize the opportunity made to them through the seminar, maintaining that the financial advisory committee has gone long ways in educating staff of Local Government in the State on proper financial management and rightful administrative format.
Guest speakers at the seminar include: Ify Chima who handled a lecture titled, Your role in rebuild Imo, Nick Opara-Ndudu discussed on TSA implementation, Charles Onwunali lectured on Imo Internal Revenue Service and Kelechi Omeni-Nzewuike educated on Revenue Generation.
